  • This record describes multibeam echosounder data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2021_E02, to calibrate and commission new, upgraded and existing critical equipment (with sea trials and personnel training) onboard RV Investigator for upcoming voyages in the 2021 schedule and beyond. The primary objectives for this voyage were testing the Deep Corer winch stream and respool, Trawling winch calibration, CTD winch 1 & 2 calibrations, HOTS commissioning and Heave Compensation testing, and Deep Towed Camera trial and calibration. The voyage took place between November 20 and November 28, 2021, departing from Hobart (TAS) and returning to Hobart. The Kongsberg EM710 MKII multibeam echosounder was used to acquire seafloor bathymetry and backscatter information and watercolumn backscatter around east of Tasmania and around Freycinet Marine Park. The EM710 MKII provides a 0.5° by 1° transmit and receive angular resolution respectively. The echosounder's nominal frequency range is from 40 to 100 kHz. Data are stored in *.all raw format for bathymetry and backscatter and *.wcd format for watercolumn backscatter at CSIRO. There are 32 files totalling 12.2 GB of raw data in this dataset and 30 files totalling 39.7 GB of watercolumn data. Sound velocity profiles were applied to this data during data acquisition. Bathymetry data contained in *.all format are corrected for motion and position. Tide corrections were applied to the processed data using RTK/GPS height and the EGM2008 geoid model in Caris. Processed data has had outliers removed. Processed line data are available in *.gsf and ascii format, and processed bathymetry and backscatter grids in geotiff format. The EM710 MKII provides a 0.5° by 1° transmit and receive angular resolution respectively. The echosounder's nominal frequency range is from 40 to 100 kHz. Data are stored in *.all raw format for bathymetry and backscatter and *.wcd format for watercolumn backscatter at CSIRO. There are 63 files totalling 87.2 GB of raw data in this dataset. Sound velocity profiles were applied to this data during data acquisition. Bathymetry data contained in *.all format are corrected for motion and position. Tide corrections were applied to the processed data using RTK/GPS height and the EGM2008 geoid model in Caris.     This record describes the End of Voyage archive from the Marine National Facility, RV Investigator delivery voyage IN2014_E01. The voyage took place between the 24th August and the 9th of September, 2014 from Singapore to Hobart. The data collected on this voyage was minimal as the aim was to deliver the vessel to Hobart from Singapore and not for data collection. Electronics, Data Acquisition Processing (DAP) and Geophysical Survey and Mapping (GSM) personnel undertook setup, testing and familiarisation of systems and equipment during the delivery voyage. EOV data was not collected on in2014_e01. Bridge logs were provided electronically as photo images. Bridge logs, paper logs and Voyage reports are available to voyage participants and MNF support personnel via the global_docs archive or email DataLibrariansOAMNF@csiro.au. EOV paper documentation is referenced in TRIM under "IN2014_E01 Paper documents", Record Number: C2015/1191, held in the IDC Data centre Store room 5SS54.

The primary objectives for this voyage were testing the Deep Corer winch stream and respool, Trawling winch calibration, CTD winch 1 & 2 calibrations, HOTS commissioning and Heave Compensation testing, and Deep Towed Camera trial and calibration. The voyage took place between November 20 and November 28, 2021, departing from Hobart (TAS) and returning to Hobart. The Kongsberg SBP120 (sub bottom profiler) was used to acquire data containing the specular reflections at different sediment interfaces below the seafloor. The SBP120 provides a 3° by 3° angular resolution. The echosounder's frequency sweep range is from 2.5 to 7 kHz. The SBP120 was logged continuously for the extent of the voyage. Data are stored in *.raw (565 files 4.17 GB) raw and *.seg (567 files 4.16 GB) segy formats at CSIRO. The segy format data had a real time processing stream applied, which applies gain, a gain correction, matched filter with replica shaping, an attribute calculation for instantaneous amplitude and time variable gain.
